Holy Saturday: The Aroma of Hope in Uncertainty.
Holy Saturday often feels like the silence between despair and joy. In Matthew 27:62–66, we see the chief priests and Pharisees taking measures to secure Jesus’s tomb, fearing that His body might be taken. For the disciples, it was a day of mourning and uncertainty, a time when all seemed lost. But even in this stillness, God was at work, preparing to unveil the greatest victory of all.
Waiting in faith is one of the most challenging aspects of our walk with God. It requires trusting Him when answers are delayed, and the future is unclear. However, this very act of faith, born in the stillness, can rise to the Lord like a fragrant offering. When we surrender our doubts and cling to hope, our trust becomes the aroma of Christ—pleasing to the Father and a testimony to the world.
Holy Saturday invites us to embrace the waiting, knowing that God’s timing is perfect. Though the tomb was sealed, His plan was not thwarted. In the silence of this day, we are reminded that hope does not waver, for God is always faithful. Our faith, when lived out in seasons of uncertainty, carries the sweet aroma of trust and devotion, a fragrance that glorifies Him.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help us to trust You in the waiting, even when we cannot see the way forward. Teach us to rest in Your promises, knowing that You are always working for our good. May our faith rise as a pleasing aroma to You, reflecting hope and unwavering devotion. Amen.
