Becoming the Pleasing Aroma of Christ.

But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.”_ — 2 Corinthians 2:14-15 (NIV)

Reflection:

What does it mean to be the pleasing aroma of Christ? These verses remind us that as Christians, we carry the fragrance of Christ’s love, grace, and truth wherever we go. This “aroma” isn’t a physical scent—it’s the impact of our faith-filled lives that glorifies God and reveals His nature to the world.

God has called us to be active participants in spreading His love and truth. Just as a sweet fragrance can fill a room and draw people closer, our lives can reflect Christ’s beauty, drawing others to know Him. The pleasing aroma of Christ means living in such a way that our words, actions, and attitudes point to His redeeming power.

Application:

Let us remember that this aroma isn’t always welcomed by everyone. Paul writes that it is pleasing to God but perceived differently by those who are being saved and those who are perishing. Our calling remains unchanged—we are to live as faithful representatives of Christ, trusting Him to work through us, even in the face of resistance.

Closing Prayer:

Lord, thank You for calling me to be Your ambassador and for using my life to spread the aroma of Christ to the world. Help me to reflect Your love, grace, and truth in all I do. May my actions and words glorify You and draw others closer to You. I pray that Your Holy Spirit empowers me to live boldly and faithfully, trusting in Your purpose for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
