Holy Tuesday: The Aroma of Faith and Love.
On Holy Tuesday, Jesus was asked a profound question: “Which commandment is the most important of all?” His response encapsulated the essence of our faith: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:28–34).
These words reveal that faith and love are inseparable. True faith arises from a heart fully devoted to God, and it manifests as love that extends to others. This is the aroma that pleases the Lord—the fragrance of a life rooted in worship and compassion, where every action is an offering of faith-filled love.
When we love God wholeheartedly, our lives become an incense of devotion that rises to Him. And when we love our neighbors as ourselves, we embody the aroma of Christ, touching the lives of others with grace, kindness, and humility. This dual commandment challenges us to reflect: Are our lives exuding the fragrance of faith and love? Are we offering to God what truly pleases Him?
Holy Tuesday invites us to renew our commitment to these great commandments, ensuring that the aroma of Christ permeates every corner of our hearts and actions.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, teach us to love You with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. May our faith and love rise to You as a pleasing aroma, drawing others closer to Your presence. Help us to live lives that reflect Your grace and compassion. Amen.
