Be Still and Fearless.
Scripture: Psalm 46:1-2
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea."
Reflection:
In moments of uncertainty or fear, Psalm 46 reminds us of an unshakable truth: God is our refuge. He is not distant or passive; He is ever-present, ready to strengthen and protect us in times of trouble.
The psalm paints vivid pictures of chaos—earthquakes, roaring waters, and falling mountains—yet the psalmist declares, “We will not fear.” Why? Because God’s presence transforms even the most terrifying circumstances. It is in Him that we find peace, even in the storm. His power and sovereignty surpass any challenge we face.
Verse 10 reminds us, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Being still is an act of courage. It means surrendering our fears, doubts, and control to the One who holds the entire universe in His hands. This stillness doesn’t imply inactivity; it’s a deep trust, allowing God to work on our behalf while we stand firm in faith.
When we depend on God as our refuge, we realize we are not alone. His strength becomes our strength, and His peace guards our hearts. He is the fortress we can run to, no matter how chaotic life may seem.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. In times when fear and uncertainty rise, help us to trust in You completely. Teach us to be still, knowing that You are in control and that Your power is greater than any storm we face. Strengthen our hearts to be courageous, and guide us to walk in faith, reflecting Your peace and love to those around us. Lord, we surrender every fear to You and rest in the safety of Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
